Learn Glue-and-Go for Quick Collages

Creating glue-and-go collages with little planning and lots of joy

This week I’m sharing my new process for creating a collage that was originally developed during my 2024 100-Day Project. This helps me to stay out of my head while creating and embracing the flow of creativity.

Each collage starts by randomly choosing paper scraps from the warm, cool and/or neutral paper scrap boxes collected from previous projects. The fact that all of my collage papers are created in the same three primary colors creates instant cohesion in the papers I choose. Just pick, glue, and go, while focusing on placing contrasts next to each other, in color, value and size of each element.

This process I show in this video helped me fit art into a very busy art biz schedule, usually in 15-30 minutes a day. And although I ended the project with 70, rather than 100 collages, this fast way of making a collage fundamentally changed the way I create.

    • Thanks for asking Judy. I don’t have anything in-person scheduled at the moment, although you can get on the wait list to find out when I do schedule one http://www.collageworkshops.com/travel. As for Collage Joy opening in January, go to http://www.collageworkshops.com/joy for all the details. The price is not listed, however it will be about $350 (not yet finalized), with an optional 3-month payment plan. Let me know if there is anything else you want to know! I would love to have you join me in January!

  3. Love these little collages in that adorable sketchbook! What did you use to make the black acrylic paint swirls at the end if I may ask? Thank you Catherine!

    • Thanks for the kind feedback. The black swirls were made with a fine liner and acrylic paint. I also have a stencil that is being released by Joggles tomorrow that will create a similar affect.
