Although I haven't posted much art for the past several months, I’ve actually been creating almost every day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In fact, I'm now on day 177 for my goal of creating at least one hour a day for 100 days. Since the 100 day goal was such a great motivator to get me in the studio, I've upped the goal to 365 days of creating one hour a day, and thanks to more time bestowed on me by Covid, I'm averaging closer to 4 hours a day. Heaven.

This is one of 9 collage paintings that has had my rapt attention for the past several months as I learned new skills in a fabulous online workshop with @art2life_world and @nicholaswilton. The entire series is called "At peace", which describes my primary focus during these transformative times we are traveling together. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You might recognize this artwork it as I had asked your opinion about what female image to include on the collage, and this ballerina was the winner.

The artwork itself is still untitled.

Has anyone else had a hard time posting to Instagram lately?
My heart just hasn't been in it with all that's happening in the world. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Although I’m still creating art daily, sharing about my art journey has felt trivial considering the profound and long over due transformation swirling around us. Not to mention all I'm doing to be part of the change, both inwardly and in the world. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Even though I haven't posted much during the past month, I've still been here everyday, learning a ton from black leaders on this platform. I am so very grateful for all they are doing to lift the world and help us white folks really understand racism and how we can support them moving forward. I'm drinking every precious wise morsel into my soul. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Although still a work in progress, I'm ready to tentatively put my toes back into the Instagram pool, and share my ever winding art journey, in addition to the profound wisdom and guidance I've been reposting from black leaders. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This little plant sits in my studio, and is the inspiration for the collection I’m currently playing with called "At peace", which is what I'm seeking in every moment. A work in progress, both me and the art.

My heart is broken open with sadness for all I didn't realize, and at the same time, knew but stood ignorantly silent. .
I don't exactly know how I'm going to be part of the change, AND I'm completed committed to being part of the solution in whatever way I'm guided. .
First, I’m holding the pain, praying for guidance as to what to do next, & reading everything I can get my hands on starting with @thegreatunlearn. I trust that know what to do next soon.

Until at least June 7, this account will be silent except for reposting stories from those that need to be heard.

This is an example of the work I created during my first round as a full time artist between 2000-2004. Back then I described my art as 3-dimensional collage, and each artwork took about 12 months to create. This particular one, titled "Full Circle", took much longer.

Although I no longer create this type of collage, ironically the theme of my work is coming full circle. I have always created collage with deep spiritual meaning, but now I am once again featuring the image of a woman as the focal point.

So lovely to be going back to where I started, yet from a much healthier prospective.

After returning to my day-gig in 2005, and staying there for 12 YEARS, I once again left in 2018 for round two as a full time artist. However this time I took the pressure off supporting myself 100% from my art by working as a contractor with my former company 5 days a month, just enough to pay the bills. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

And because of dear Covid, now I'm not working a day-gig at all. I'm sure I'll go back to 5 days a month when this is all over, but at the moment, I'm very grateful for this blessed gift of uninterrupted time in my studio.
